· 236. ID (Infantry Division) was commanded by Generalmajor (Brigadier General) Mühry; the General Staff Officer was Hauptmann i.G. (im Generalstabdienst) Sydow and the Adjutant was Hauptmann von Rheinbaben.

· IR459 was officially certified as "mobilized" (i.e., trained and ready to deploy) by the War Ministry on 24.2.17, with effective date 1.3.17.

· The Regiment, in gratitude to those in Lippspringe and its environs who had been of assistance during its trainup, unofficially began calling itself "Regiment Lippspringe"; this term was also used at the front from time to time as a Deckname (cover name) to conceal the regiment's identity during operations.

· The Regiment did not form its own replacement battalion (Ersatzbataillon); instead, replacements were cycled through the I. Ersatzbataillon IR173 in St. Avold (9. Lothringisches (Lorraine) Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 173, XVI Korps).
